Hearing Hands: "Why do not you hear and communicate with the deaf community?"
The streets are not the only ones who hear and see. We often make a mistake in this matter. There are millions of visually impaired, hearing-impaired, and physically handicapped people living in this country. The biggest problem is that we are unable to incorporate people with disabilities into society, and we are incompetent in making streets accessible to people with disabilities.
We think it's important to meet people with disabilities in common and to look for ways to share something. We interviewed about the Anlaten Eller Project, which invites people who hear with this in mind to learn sign language and struggles to communicate with hearing impaired people.
- What is the Hands-on-Hands Project for those who heard for the first time? Could you talk a little bit?
I would summarize the project of the Narrator Eller with a single sentence; TİD (Turkish Sign Language) is a social responsibility project that provides mathematics education supported. I am a human being and 2 years ago I learned sign language. It's a totally individual desire. There was no hearing impaired or deaf person in the neighborhood or in my family. I have heard the deaf community's desire to learn sign language among themselves, and the sign language as they see the mimics they use. Serdar Peçen was my first trainer. He is hearing-impaired. I found myself in deaf culture when he turned to Serdar as the teacher-student relationship between us.) As he entered deaf culture, I began to use sign language more and more in my daily life. I fell in love with sign language and deaf culture. After graduating from the Department of Mathematics at Istanbul University, my dear friend, Cem Benden, asked me to help me practice mathematics. I received a message from the Chair of the Youth Committee of the Hearing Impaired Children and Family Association at the time I shared social media with a photo we started working with Cem. Hearing impaired and deaf people were having difficulties in the field of mathematics. I continued to investigate this and I saw that the hearing-impaired and deaf community really had difficulties in the field of mathematics. The Hands-on-the-Hand project thus began. I have combined two things that I love in my life, mathematics and sign language.
- If we mention the sign language alphabet; Do you have different alphabets in different geographies like speech language? Or is there a common language that all hearing-impaired people in the world speak?
Sign language is not universal. Sign language differs according to countries, regions and even cities. We use Turkish Sign Language in Turkey.
DURING AND HEAVY COMMUNITY MUST BE IN CONTACT
- We think that every person who hears the sign language should learn. If we ask you a few sentences about why the sign language should be learned ...
If we are to speak through Turkish Sign Language, we are in Turkey we live on the same land mass and two boundaries. Hearing society and deaf society ... The language we use is different, culture is also. I would like to go out here with a question like this. Once inside the borders of Turkey Why so eager to learn English? Why pay millions to learn English. Do we live within the same territorial boundaries with people from the English society or individuals with that culture? No we live. We are in Turkey. Why are we popularizing learning the language of a society that is not so much within us? I come to the question of why the sign language is learned, it is important today to communicate and to establish. Communication encompasses every aspect of human relationships. We can communicate by talking as a hearing-speaking society. The hearing impaired-deaf community communicates with the sign language. Why do you hear and communicate with the deaf community? While on the same land. How can we be together without communication? If people who hear say that they want to learn language so much, they should first learn the Turkish Sign Language. We can communicate with the individuals within the borders we live in before then spread out of the country
:)
- Some news channels, talk-shows, rally broadcasts are also broadcasted on the TV using the sign language for the hearing impaired. How do you think these publications are useful for hearing impairments? How is it ideal?
This is the hearing-impaired-deaf society that will best answer the question. If I would offer my own rudimentary views; 'Hurdle' kelimeyini very uncomfortable life and unobstructed life to be together yes, these publications are very useful. Empathy, how do you know if there are no translated publications and you are from a receiving society?
"WE WERE INVITING ALL DECEPTIVE PEOPLE WITH THE TURKISH SIGNAL LANGUAGE AND THE WORD OF WRITING"
- These are the TID (Turkish Sign Language) Awareness Campaign you are running through social media. Could you tell me a bit about that? How can this campaign be supported? The TID Awareness Campaign is actually the life of the question I have just answered, 'Everyone who hears the sign language must learn'. With this campaign we invite all the people who hear not to say 'hello' with the Turkish Sign Language and write their name. We want to take such a step so that the hearing and deaf community can coexist. Because the Anlaten Eller project aims to create a sensitive society that supports the education of the deaf and deaf community. To support this campaign, we say 'hello' with the Turkish Sign Language and write our name. The video we made is from our personal accounts #interactors # sensitive and share with the community tags and challenge our three friends.
- We regret that many people with hearing impairments, visual impairments, bodily disabilities, shortly any disabled people have difficulties in social life and that many are not involved in everyday life. What can be done so that the disabilities do not stay outside the community, but continue to their daily life?
Hearing impaired-deaf society, the more people who want to see, the more they are in everyday life. Visually impaired, physically handicapped community is also the same. The more we want to see, the more we are in our daily lives. They say that it is an obstacle, it certainly is. Being sensitive is most important. For example, if I would explain my personal thoughts; I am not a human being, a physical obstacle, I have no visual impairment. But I do not look at a person who can never see, I do not look at the wheelchair person in pain. We can not go to one place with god damnation. I do not look at the pity that you misunderstand me, but I think of how I can be useful to those people at that moment or in the future. I just try to support as much as they want.
- Finally, what should those who want to learn the sign language do? How can we support the project?
There are actually so many sign language courses for those who want to learn sign language. But it's not just learning sign language. Event to know deaf cult. He learn in the cult. I do not even need to go to a province for a curse. Because, after asking, there are various associations and they can become hearing impaired and deaf friends and they can learn this language. They will also see deaf cults on this site. I want to give you a little detail, the sign language does not just use your hands. Mimic and body language are the most important parts of this language. When you combine mimic, body language and signs, an incredible world will be waiting for you:)
Those who want to support my project can follow our social media accounts, share our lessons and send us a message. I would like to state that we will be very happy. I also invite all people who have heard about TID Awareness Campaign from here:)
