What does it mean to be deaf?
"Deafness is the difficulty or inability to use the sense of hearing due to a loss of partial hearing (hearing loss: mild hearing and are forced to use an auditory device to improve it.) Or total (cofosis) . This may be a hereditary trait or may be the result of illness, trauma, long-term exposure to noise, or aggressive medications for the auditory nerve. "Wikipedia
In our country there are currently more than 30,000 deaf people, a figure that also includes those who have very low hearing.
The teaching strategies based on bilingualism are structured in the early acquisition of sign language as the first language, and the teaching of a second, for example, Spanish, written and spoken.
The World Federation of the Deaf has fixed a universal fingerprint alphabet, which is a true Manual Alphabet. It is about Sign Language since language is the capacity, the communicative faculty of the human being and the language is the communication system of humans.
The manual spelling makes visible words and phrases, letter by letter, by means of hands using the manual alphabet, which consists of 27 different manual settings (plus the "LL" and "RR") to represent each letter of the Castilian alphabet.
Ideas can be expressed and received when letters are combined in a continuous sequence. Manual spelling is used in sign language phrases as a supplement to express ideas for which there are no formal signs, such as proper names and technical terms.
Sign language is easily recognized by a deaf person, especially when accompanied by gestures that signify specific words or ideas. This allows you to establish a conversation with other people.
Law No. 17,378 recognizes Uruguayan Sign Language as the natural language of deaf people and their communities throughout the territory of the Republic. The purpose of this law is to remove communication barriers and thus ensure the equalization of opportunities for deaf and hard of hearing people.

* Children of Children in Spain record a version of Maldita Nerea in sign language.
Beatriz Durán, teacher of Children in the Colexio Atlántida Sociedad Cooperativa de Vigo, worked last year with her students to record on video an exciting version in sign language of the song "Hecho con tus sueños", by Maldita Nerea. Although at first it seemed like an impossible task, thanks to everyone's effort they have achieved a surprising result.
The teacher says: "We got an incredible skill with our hands, a psychomotor job like I never would have believed. And, best of all, self-esteem. When we finished, everything they wanted to do and what I told them was difficult or older, they answered me: 'Teach us, teacher, we can learn everything if we work hard,' "she says excitedly. "So I feel more than satisfied with the work; Now any goal that you put in front of them, they believe they can get it. I wanted to do it so that they discovered that there was a way to communicate differently from oral language and that it was the one used by people with hearing impairments "
